FAQ

The world’s biggest winter multi-sport event for masters and active adults aged 30+.

Winter World Masters Games is a "Sports for All. Sports for Lifetime" -event. Open to all levels.

Held every four years. From 2028 every two years.

The International Masters Games Association (IMGA) is the representative body of Masters sport worldwide and founded in 1985 to support the Olympic movement and ‘sport for all’ philosophy. The IMGA is a non-profit organisation recognised by the International Olympic Committee.

The IMGA is about more than just sport. They celebrate with us the unbreakable human spirit to achieve our potential and inspire others. They champion our community of dreamers from around the world who play sport to build friendships and connect, next to maintaining their physical and mental wellbeing. A fulfilling and happy life is possible at any age.

The Games take place between 14-23, January 2028. 

Sport schedule will be announced later. 

Anyone 30+ by the sport’s age-calculation rules. Most masters events use five-year age bands for men and women. Some sports may require licenses or insurance certificates.  Details to be confirmed per sport later in this site. 

No. This is by a definition a sports for all event. For active movers, for motivated masters, for you and me — from first-timers to ex-pros. Just enter when registration opens (pre-registration is not binding). However, we stick to international masters rules - some exceptions may occur in some sports. Find more detailed information from this site. 

Typically five-year bands (30–34, 35–39, … up to 90+). Many masters rules use “age on December 31 of the preceding year.” Final rules per sport will be published with registration.

Price for registration will be informed as soon as possible. 

The Registration prices for the previous Winter World Masters Games in 2020 (Innsbruck, AUT) and 2024 (Lombardia, ITA) were 200 - 220 EUR / person. 

A full winter program across ski, skate, ice, and snow.

The final sport list and competition formats will be posted before registration opens. As of today 10/12 sports are confirmed to official program.

Usually yes, as scheduling allows.  The confirmed limit, clash rules and additional fees will be informed before the registration to competitions open. 

Pre-registration = free, non-binding expression of interest. You get first to know, early-bird perks, discounts, and entry to our “gift-a-free entry” draw. And a secured spot in your desired sports if you claim it during the priority access to registration. That's is a short period before registration opens for all. You will be informed by email including the pre-registrants link to registration. 

Registration (opens later in 2026) means, that you choose your events, pay the entrance fee, and complete the registration form.
